can you use an LG Ultrafine 4k USB C monitor with a Macbook Air 2018
Can this be done using the display port connection on the new MacBook Air 2018?

As of this post date, the latest MacBook Air is a 2017 model, and it can support a single, external 4K (3840x2160 @60Hz) display. It provides Thunderbolt (2) digital video out, as well as native mini-DisplayPort video out. See the link for other video out solutions. The two USB3 ports are not the rounded USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports.
Thank you, I thought a 2018 model was released with the MacBook Pro, my mistake. So are you saying that a single LG Ultrafine monitor that only has USB C connections can be attached to the Thunderbolt 2 port with a Thunderbolt to USB C cable/adapter?
I just read Apple's Use the LG UltraFine 4K Display with your Mac article and the only Macs that are compatible with this monitor must have a built-in USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port. No Thunderbolt 2. No mini-DisplayPort cables. So with the 2017 MacBook Air, you are out of luck for this display.
Thank you, much appreciated.
