Dr Fone Locked My Apple ID

In all my years of having an Apple ID, I've never had my Apple ID locked. I was trying to recover some photos/videos and decided to try Dr. Fone yesterday around 5pm EST. I used the iCloud backup since I did not have a local backup, so I had to sign into the software with my credentials. It found my backup and scanned, but didn't recover what I was hoping.

Anyway... I woke up to an alert that my Apple ID was locked and had to reset my password. TFA/MFA worked as usually and I sucessfully reset my password this morning.

My question is... should I be worried that this software is trying to access my account unauthorized? Or was it just an anomaly?

My immediate concern is that the notification was not from Apple. Apple does not send out notifications saying that your Apple ID is locked; rather, they wait until you try to log in to notify you of account problems.

If you followed the screen prompt to change your Apple ID, you may have been signing in via some ill-willed route.

Go to https://appleid.apple.com and change your password. If that is successful, you're in the clear.

The alert from Apple was solely on my 7+ screen, just like TFA/MFA alerts. It verified my phone number with multi factor as well and it all looked legit, being it was all down through my iPhone and not some random email, etc...

After changing my password on my iPhone, I went to Apple's AppleID website from my laptop and the new password was accepted and working. So that seems good. I'm just wondering why I was locked out to begin with and how does this software interact with Apple's server after signing in with my ID.

I think I'm good too, I just want to futureproof any issue. Before attempting to use a software to recover items, I did my due diligence in reviewing software. Now I just want to figure out IF and HOW my Apple credentials are saved for any reason. This is not coincidental and could just be a timing/connection issue on their end which forced a lock out.

I cannot get a straight answer out of 2 different companies that offer a recovery from an ICLOUD BACKUP.

From iMobie:

1. We would like to explain to you that because Apple has adopted the latest APFS file system. For iCloud backup, the Encryption and decryption methods have been changed. Thus, our dev team needs enough time to optimize PhoneRescue. Would you mind waiting for the update of PhoneRescue? It will be appreciate for your understanding.

I agree. I contacted 2 different companies about their claims for iCloud backup recovery and both responses were broken in language and structure.

I just got off the phone with Apple Support and there is nothing more I can do in regards to preventative measure for my Apple ID. So I will let this play out and keep contacting each company until I can get a more definitive answer.
