Is it safe to clean iPhoneX in a sink?

I currently have a LifeProof case on my iPhoneX so when it gets greasy or dirty I can just rinse it under the sink real quick and clean the screen... I heard the iPhoneX is water resistant up to 3feet or something, so is it safe to remove the case and rinse the screen underwater? I wouldn’t be submerging it or let the water directly into the charging port. What do you guys think?

I think it is silly to deliberately expose any expensive solid state electronics device to water. Especially one you probably depend on daily. Water resistance offers some mild protection against accidental water exposure. It’s not a guarantee against water damage, and water damage will void your warranty.

Unless something is actually pressure tested and certified, it is not suitable for deliberate use in water. E.g. dive watches are certified to withstand a given pressure, and protect against water intrusion at depths that produce that pressure (e.g. certified to 10 atmospheres, or 330ft of sea water). No IP rating comes even remotely close to that pressure related standard of assurance against water intrusion.
