Proximity sensor shuts off screen outside of calls

My 7Plus screen keeps going dark. I believe the proximity sensor is deactivating the screen even when I am not on a phone call. Any ideas on how to fix?

You can perform these steps:

1. if you have a case or screen protector that can obstruct (interfere with) the proximity sensor, try to remove them, and test your iP7+.

2. Try a forced restart of your device: Press and hold both Home and Volume Down buttons, until you see the Apple Logo. When it appears, release both buttons, wait for the iPhone to restart, then test it.

3. If the issue still persists, have your iP7+ inspected at your most convenient Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider: Apple - Find Locations - Location Selector
