It was manageable that time, because it only happened a few times, and most of the time I was still able to use my laptop properly. However, since yesterday, every time my laptop restarted, I'm shown a folder with a question mark. Again, it happened a few times, but it was still manageable. Now, however, it just keeps restarting every few minutes, and I'm shown the question mark in a folder every time it restarts. I have reformatted my laptop already, so I'm wondering if it is perhaps a hardware problem? I didn't drop my macbook, etc. I think this started when I installed something from the internet that transform FLAC to MP3. I don't know anymore. Please help me. I have a lot of work to do, and this is my only laptop. Thank you very much.


Please note that I updated all my applications, etc. I even deleted them all, and then I reformatted, etc. But it still isn't working properly. I hope you can help. Thanks a lot.

I have a Macbook Air Early 2015 12" running High Sierra 10.13.6; I am seeing the same sort of thing, with the same panic error (panic(cpu 0 caller ....): nvme: "InitializeNVMe error = 0xE00002D7) and the reference to the same NVMe (SSD hard disk controller) in the caches directory. However, this one only panics is when 1) it is running on the battery, not on the charger, and 2) when it has gone to sleep and is coming out of sleep. As long as it is plugged in, the panics and restarts do not occur.

Another thing I noticed is that if my TimeMachine external drive is hooked up and I wake the machine, it will not panic, but if the external drive is unplugged, and I wake the machine, it will panic.

I am grasping at straws here, but it seems to me to be something related to the SSD waking up while on battery, as if there is something happening to a disk read which is gone awry. I've taken it to the Genius Bar, they checked it out, said everything is fine (recently replaced logic board and LCD screen due to graphics problem). They wiped it and handed it back to me. When I went to set up the initial configuration (before restoring from TM backup), it panicked and restarted, but again, it was on battery.
