Adding Videos to iTunes

I try to add a 500mb Mpeg4 video to my iTunes library, however, when I click add file to Library and select the video, iTunes does nothing, it won't show a progress bar at the top, it won't add the video to my library, it won't even give me a message why. I'd love to put this video on my Ipod, can someone help me solve this problem?

The same thing has happened to me, just now, after successfully doing it time after time. Any insights appreciated

My problem was with regard to a particular file, not all files. When I tried to open it with Quicktime, QT, unlike iTunes, gave me an error message that mention bad filename. I was able to shorten the filename and then load it in iTunes.
