I'm not sure why, but I got into plug-ins via website preferences in Safari. Each one, such as Adobe Reader, Flash Player, Java Script, Citrix online development, etc, had a Safari disclaimer that it had known critical security issues and that my secure information might be accessible. So, I turned them off, and now Safari is practically nonfunctional. I am having to use Chrome.

Even after turning them back on, access via Safari to some sites is still impossible, including my financial provider. My password is not accepted. It is accepted on Chrome.

Java is has almost nothing to do with Javascript.

Javascript is built in, not a plug-in.

If you have disabled javascript, most of the fancy stuff on the web no longer works.

Turn it back on, it will not hurt you.

Thank you, I searched and found under “Develop” menu that I had disabled java script. I enabled it, and I am able to log in to sites. That is very helpful. I did not know the difference.

Thank you!

Can you give me some direction about the plug-ins?

Do you allow these, such as Adobe Flash Player, Citrix Online Development, Java, and especially Online Storage Plug-in?

Specifically, is Online Storage Plug-in, which appears not to be secure, what saves my passwords to Safari?

Citrix plug-ins are used for online seminars and meetings. They don't need to be enabled at any other times.

Flash player is used to play Videos in Flash format. If you turn it off, you will occasionally get a message the certisn moving-pictiure content can not be played without it.

java is NEVER needed for ordinary activities like banking. it used used for very complex websites and for online games such as facebook games.

Online storage plug-in is used when a web site wants to store a LOT of data for your use of a specific web site. it is really needed for ordinary activities.

Specifically, is Online Storage Plug-in, which appears not to be secure, what saves my passwords to Safari?

No, that is NOT correct. Your passwords and Auto-Fill data are encrypted and stored in a Safari Keychain, added to your login keychain. They are never stored "in the clear". If anyone other than you were able to read them (which they can not) they would get a wildly-scrambled version thought to take decades of supercomputer time to unscramble without the password.
