How to disable inline attachment viewing in Mail

The terminal command DOES work, but you must first give Terminal full access.

System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Full Disk Access

Then add Terminal.app. Once that is done, reopen Terminal and run the command.

this command works even in mojave, but you have to turn off SIP first using recovery (cmd+R) using terminal

enter csrutil disable

reboot

ran your command again in terminal logged in to your user.

keep in mind that this only changes your view of mail but not of the receiving part

I'm not sure that command works in El Capitan, but have you tried the command with the yes in capital letters (YES)?

I have the same issue here, except with macOS Mojave 10.14. The key DisableInlineAttachmentViewing appears to not work anymore.

Including the full name of the plist file:

defaults write com.apple.mail.plist DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes

worked for me in High Sierra.

This does not work for me. I have tried this on Mojave and it did not work.

Giving the terminal full disk access permission worked for me. Thanks!
