Unlocking iPhone for CarPlay

Starting a month or two ago, CarPlay is insisting that I unlock the iPhone to connect to CarPlay every couple of days. I never had to do that before. I've tried deleting the phone/car connection and re-pairing it. Still asks. Thoughts? Thanks.

This is caused by a security feature that will require the phone be unlocked with a passcode, touch id, or face id when connected to a USB device after not having been unlocked for a period of time.

It's normal.

You can change the setting that requires this in Settings>Touch ID & Passcode.

Go to "Allow Access When Locked" and flip the switch for USB Accessories.
