Is there a way to see dismissed notifications?

For example, if I see a notification from an app offering a special deal, tap it to go to the app, but then switch away from the app. I can't then get the deal because the app doesn't remember, and the notification no longer appears...anywhere, as far as I can tell. This is on iOS 11.4.1.
