Did you purchase this phone new from an Apple store? If not, it sounds like the phone is locked to the original owner's account and you will need to contact him/her so they can remove it from their account.

What message, exactly, are you seeing on the phone's screen?

Hi Lyssa
It says Apple ID "xxxx" cannot be used to unlock this iPhone. My Apple ID and password are both working and i have used them to log onto Apple using my laptop. I have tried to find the phone uisng ' find my iPhone' and it does not appear under my Devices. This is strange as the phone was working last night, I dont know what might have happened
Yes I am the original owner of the phone. I bought it a few years ago and haven't used it for a while. I started using it again a few week ago to mainly record interviews so it doesn't even have a sim card. It was working perfectly until this happened today. Pls what else can I try?
My appled ID password cannot unlock my iPhone 4s
