How can I tell if my iPhone has A defective Antenna?

Since the middle of July, my reception on my iPhone 6s has been terrible on my T-Mobile account. But it used to be excellent. T-Mobile modernized a nearby tower during July 2018, but insists that their tower is not the problem. I bought my iPhone new at Verizon in May 2017. So I want to know if the poor reception is due to a bad antenna on my iPhone.

I am having diagnostics done at my local Apple Store this week. I have already tried reset network settings. I believe one other person in my apartment building has had the same problem. In addition, I have also tried…

1… Using a T-Mobile cell spot signal booster

2… contacting T-Mobile through chat and 611 To write a service ticket to check their nearby tower (they found no issues with their tower despite having told me that it was being “modernized” at the time my reception problems started)

I do notice that early in the morning I get better reception(Though I still only get one or two bars), indicating that I might be getting “deprioritized” during high traffic times. But I have never reached my monthly data limits. But this “better reception” still is not the excellent 4 bar reception I used to get.

If the problem only manifests in one location, then it is almost certainly the cell site you're connected to.

Now... that said, it may not be a "problem". iPhones sold for Verizon and T-Mobile support different LTE bands. It's entirely possible that T-Mobile is now using an LTE band that is simply not supported by your phone. There is nothing anyone can do about that.
