Logic Pro X, Regarding Grid Division Value.

Sorry, if my question does not seem like a serious or big issue but as I am new to Logic Pro and going through the manual, I came across the topic on Grid Division. I understand the idea behind it and it is all cool. But there is one point I did not get... It says, "If the note value of the division is equal to or greater than the bar denominator, the third value of the position display is removed". Any help please? Thanks in advance!

Hi

This is all about the time signature.

The basics are that Logic displays position and length using a Bar/Beat/Division/Tick system

In 4/4 time there are 4 beats in a bar:

Division set to 1/16 means that there are 4 divisions to a beat and 240 ticks per division

Division set to 1/8 means that there are 2 divisions per beat and 480 ticks per division

Division set to 1/4 ( the denominator of the time signature) means that there are zero divisions per beat, so the display removes that element.

If your time signature is 6/8, the division value is not displayed when it is set to 1/8 or bigger

In some previous version, I used to be able to change the grid display in the Piano Roll editor by clicking under the time signature in the info display at the top of the screen (that black, round-corner box that looks like an LCD screen). This was very useful when inputing tuplets by hand. Now the info display at the top has been changed and that feature seems to be gone. I couldn't find anything about changing the grid in the help or the online user guide. Does anyone know how to do it now? Thanks.
