New Install cant see music files

New computer build; everything excluding Hard Drives. System running fine; installed a fresh copy of I-tunes and told it to look in my D drive/music/music where the music resides. I-tunes cant see the music. Previous HD crashed so I cant retrieve the rest of the old I-tune files so I have lost all that including artwork I figure. iTunes now wants to look in D:music/itunes/itunesmedia.

Should I copy all my music into that folder or what?? Help would be appreciated with this. At least I didn't lose the music files.

This is on a Windows 10 machine.

Already figured that out and am just finishing consolidating all the files; 131 gig so has taken a while; also, had no sound so went into settings and changed sound to DIRECT and got it working. Always fun doing a hardware and software build. Miss Windows 7 already!! thanks for help.

See Make a split library portable. I would recommend making a fresh library at D:\iTunes, which will have its media folder at D:\iTunes\iTunes Media. Move your content inside this folder then use File > Add Folder to Library to add everything and let iTunes organize it the way it likes to. Then backup the resulting library to another drive for security.

If you have any Apple devices see also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. You may be able to recover ratings, play counts, and playlists from them.
