Me and my sister both just got up grades. Mine is and iPhone 8 plus Red, hers is an iPhone 8, and we were just wondering if the are safe to take swimming with us at the local lake, without a case.?

No. iPhones are not waterproof. They are water resistant to some degree, and Apple specifically warns against submerging the iPhones.

Do not go swimming with them. Leave them outside.
