Go to Apple menu -> About This Mac.

PPC = PowerPC, can't be upgraded past 10.5.8.

Intel Core Solo - can't be upgraded past 10.6.8

Intel CoreDuo - can't be upgraded past 10.6.8

Intel Core2Duo from 2006 can't be updated beyond 10.7.5.

Newer Intel Core2Duo & Xeons may be able to go beyond that.

Links on the numbers explain how to update.

Note, no Mac from 2006 has built-in sync support for iOS 11. The newest built-in sync support you can get for those Macs is for iOS 9.0. And no, unfortunately you can't downgrade your iOS device.
