Restoring lost contacts

Hi, I'm using an iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) running macOS High Sierra v10.13.6 and want to restore my contacts to an 02-Sep-18 Time Machine backup as a number appear to be missing.

I have opened the Contacts app and then started Time Machine to walk back to the right point to restore. To my surprise (maybe even horror) all of the contacts windows in the Time Machine timeline prior to 'Now' show no cards and are therefore not very useful for recovery purposes.

Is there an alternative method that I can use, such as navigating to the finder location where the data is stored and restoring this using Time Machine?

I've googled where this would be but the answers I can find are not pointing me to a location that exists on my iMac, please help!

Where were you looking?

From FInder>Go>Go To Folder copy and paste:

~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources

Try going back in TM on the .../AddressBook folder above.
