Non-Mac users have trouble opening my work on iPages. Is there something I can do to help them if I want their editing comments?

Others without Mac have trouble opening up work I send them on iPages. Especially if I would like their comments, is there someway I can send an iPages document son non-Mac user can open it and edit?

Hi Snowy,

Word will not open a Pages document.

Save your Pages document on your machine and Menu > File > Export to > Word...

User uploaded file

User uploaded file

Choose .docx or .doc

I suggest .docx

I don't think that comments in Pages will export to Word, neither will comments from your Word friends import to Pages. Pages is not a Word clone. Pages does its best, but export and import are not perfect. If you frequently collaborate with Word users, use Word for Mac, or a free Word clone such as LibreOffice or OpenOffice.

Regards,

Ian.

Pages documents are as useful to non-Mac users as a soggy dog biscuit. The only tool on the planet to open Pages documents is the Mac-only Pages application. That is why we recommend MS Word, or LibreOffice to open/edit/save native Word documents between mixed platforms, expressly so this Pages document issue never develops.

For viewing a Pages document, you export it as a PDF. For editing, you export it as a Word .docx. That simple, and that final.
