Lightning headphones- not working?

I bought an iPhone 8 on August 3rd from my cellular carrier. They came with lightning headphones, and I decided to try them. They worked fine, but only for less than a minute. They cut out, and plugging them back in doesn't fix it either. I've cleaned my charging port, restarted my phone, tried them on 2 other iPhones, and nothing has fixed it. The music comes out of the built in iPhone speaker.

I think this is important, but I'm unsure. When they plug in, a high pitch ringing starts. The sound doesn't come through the speakers in the headphones, but through the lightning port itself.

Anyone have any ideas or solutions?

iPhone 8, iOS 11.4.1

I would take it back to your cellular carrier as it should be under 1 years warranty as it sounds like a fault there!

Have you tried "Bluetooth & Wireless Headphones" for your music? Also have you tried removing your phone case as it could be blocking the connection as I had a similar problem with my iPhone 7...

Cheers.
