My 1st IPhone only had 5G of memory. I upgraded to one that has 50G but still only have 5 on ICloud. Am I missing something?

I had a 5G phone and upgraded to an 8 which has 64GB Why am I out of room on iCloud already. I might have had 3-4 weeks. How do I fix it?

iPhone 8, I don’t know the 2nd question.

iCloud memory and the memory on your iOS device are not related, nor does increasing one help in any way to increase the other.

See this User Tip that provides an overview of iCloud, how it works, and how it interacts with your iOS device or Mac: iCloud Deconstructed | Communities

You manage your iCloud storage and your iOS Device storage separately as well:
