Turn off Digital Out so it accesses the Internal Speakers

When I turn on my 2012 MacBook Pro, the Internal Speakers work with the sound of the startup chime. Once I log in though, the computer is stuck on Digital Out. There is no red light showing. I have tried toothpicks and cotton tips to try clean it out, but have become convinced that my logic board is broken nearby after a small jolt that caused it to stop working. I can also play sound through an external bluetooth speaker, but want to stop having to carry this around with me.

Because I can get sound at the startup, there must be a way to trick the software into ignoring the Digital Out and reconnect to the Internal Speakers, which are still functioning on startup.

MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.3)
