Can't delete podcasts from my ipod

I have one of the original ipods. it is an 80 gb and normally works perfectly.

although I have noticed that there are old podcasts still on it. I find them when I scroll thru the list of songs that are on the machine.

however, if I hook it up to a computer and try to find them in iTunes, the podcasts are no where to be found. so I can't get rid of them.

short of resetting the ipod is there any other way to find them and delete them. I hesitate to reset the ipod as it is old and I don't want to lose all the songs I have accumulated of many years.

Thanks

iPod classic, iOS 1.x, model PA450LL

See Recover media from an iPod and reclaim the media from the device so that you can safely restore it. You might try a third party tool such as MediaMonkey to see it it is able to see and delete the unwanted items.

Hey hetterbr,

I see you're having some trouble with your iPod Classic having podcasts on there that you'd like to have deleted. I'll be happy to help out.

Podcasts that are on the iPod Classic should appear in the Podcasts category under On My Device in the left pane. If you're not seeing the podcasts here, you could try syncing your podcasts to the iPod which would replace the podcasts currently on the iPod. You can do this by clicking Podcasts on the left under Settings and click "Sync Podcasts" to make the podcasts sync up.

Here's some more information about this: Manually manage content on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iTunes - Apple Support

Hope this helps! Take care.
