iPhone 8 close up camera blurry

Hi I’ve had my iPhone 8 for just under one year and thought maybe cameras just can’t take close up pictures but when using my old 6s when I’m close to anything being concrete, text or skin is sharpens and focuses where on my 8 since the day I got it just goes blurry and when you tap to focus it goes slightly less blurry then very blurry again if I pull the phone slightly away it goes super clear but if I get any closer than probably 50mm of an object it blurs completely any advice or should I try claim a warranty at a local retailer I bought it from

Came out of a brand new box from a retailer so must’ve had a clean lens and if I don’t go up close everything is clear and focused so must be clean I don’t use any cases or extras just plain phone from the box so no interference and I tap on the object to focus and it makes it readjust while staying blurry or even more blurry after focusing so I guess last option is contact Apple support
