Does charging damage the motherboard?

I have an iPhone 6s. I used to charge it using the iPad charger (2.5A) or my powerbank (2.1A). Recently my iPhone went dead and would not charge again at all. A visit to the service centre and I was told that the phone's motherboard is affected. Can charging at higher amps (2.1A instead of 1.0A) affect the phone's motherboard in a long run? Need to be enlighten on this. Thank you.

iPhone 6s, iOS 11.4.1
