hi there, i hope somebody can help me! bought my new ipod shuffle last week & went to use it over the weekend. have followed all instructions perfectly. when i go to play my ipod no music comes on & the display button flashes once green & then 4 orange lights.

at first i thought it was on Disable Buttons but i pressed the play/pause button again to Enable & i still get the same display - once green, 4 orange lights.

i have also updated explorer, installed new Itunes 7, i even restored the shuffle to no avail, i still get these stupid lights!

i am at a loss as to a) what they mean - and b) how to rectify this problem.

can anybody help me PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Are you SURE it's 4 orange and not 3?

If it's 1 green and 3 orange, you're holding the PLAY/PAUSE button doen too long. Turn the shuffle OFF amd nack on, the press PLAY *ONCE* quickly to play.

Hia, just bought a new gen 2 pink shuffle. Firstly, the thing dont come with no software so it took me almost 3 days to figure out that it was not in fact broken, and that i had to go to the applestore and get the software (nice of apple to let us know of this) secondly...after all the itunes stuff had downloaded, it automatically put every single song i have on my pc (mines and my husbands) into the itunes folder. so after id sat and deleted all the songs that i didnt want on it, i could not figure out how to get the songs onto my ipod!!!
Im outraged that they dont come with much in the way of instructions.
Right now, one week after recieving mu shuffle, i still cannot figure out how to get songs onto it. i have somehow managed to get a seleced few on the shuffle, but i cant get any more on it. so i decided to delete everything on the itunes folder and try start again, but nothing will delete and all of these songs are all over the place, so obviosuly im now getting rather irate that, not only does the shuffle come with no intructions on how to get song onto it, but also that there is no instruction for the itunes folder. how do u delete songs? how do u get music onto the shuffle, and i mean all of the music that i choose, now just the songs that itunes decides to put in it. and why does itunes come with no instructions? i have no idea how to use it!!!! Im a full time working mum of 2 and have absolutly no time for fiddling about with this thing any longer, please somone help me before i throw it away and demand a refund from applestore!!!!
Thern the other problem is, maybe im just stupid but i cannot for the life of figure out how to use these discussion rooms..could not find an option to start a new post so instead i think ive jumped in on someone elses! why is all this so complicated?

It's NOT! YOu just apparently didn't read the little leaflet that came with your Shuffle which on the second page says: "Download and install iTunes from www.apple.com/ipod/start " Had you done that, the rest of it would have been sort of obvious...

Here's some more helpful information I suggest you read:

Oh my! I am feeling exactly the same way! I also have the pink shuffle. So what is up with getting NO instructions? I have spent since Feb. 6 trying to get songs I have downloaded from my realplayer to my shuffle. I am at my wits end. And now my brother asks me if I have downloaded the software that came with my ipod. Ha! what software?
I am using Limewire for my music, not itunes, and I know that is probably a horrible thing to say, but there has GOT to be a way to put the songs on my shuffle anyway. Grrrrr.

Look in your iPOD litrature and go to the web site it refers to in order to download a 35 page manual for the iPOD shuffle. It will answer any questions and give direction on the iPOD's use. It is very clear and contains a lot of information.

katiei you can make a new playlist in iTunes then go to the shuffle and change the autofill option to that playlist then put songs in the playlist and when you get all the songs you want click "Autofill" and it will put the songs on, kind of a pain but worth it 4 free music.
