why doesn't my iphone8 talk to me when I open and use apple maps? I only get the visuals

I see that you're not hearing Siri's voice while using the Maps application on your iPhone 8. I'm happy to help.
Use Maps on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
To get audible directions, swipe up on the menu while you're navigating and tap Audio. Then, make your selection on just how loud you'd like it to be.
