iPhone X Apple Leather Case

I have searched for this for about half an hour and I cannot find an answer.

I noticed on the Apple store website the official Apple leather cases for the iPhones X are gone. They now have the iPhone Xs cases, and under compatibility it says that it will only work with the Xs.

So will the official Apple leather case for the Xs work with the X? Or despite the fact the iPhone X has been discontinued for an entire five hours that is the end of the line for the cases? I was hoping they would at least stick around for a few months.

I am getting a flashback of 2013, when the 5s came out and suddenly the 5 disappeared. However the 5s and SE case would work with the 5, so all was good. On another note the SE case also disappeared today.

Actually it does not fit "fine." A gap at the bottom of the camera and a squishy bit at the top. This is very odd.

Looks like this thread has got buried. Supposedly it will fit fine. If you check out the product page for it here, three people asked this question and each time the answer was yes.

Also these two sites say it will fit as well; cnet.com and iphonehacks.com

If anyone already owns the official iPhone XS leather case and you own an original iPhone X, your comments would be greatly appreciated. That way your response can be marked as solved.

Are you referring to an XS case going on an X or an X case going on an XS?

Since posting this as it turns out the XS camera lens is slightly larger. So from what I understand an XS case can go on an X. The only downside is that there will be a bit of a tiny gap under the camera lens.

It would be extremely helpful if someone had a picture to show an official XS leather case on an X to finally put this thread to rest (to show this gap). I have seen pictures of an X case on an XS, but that does not fully help.

From my research the rear camera lens on the iPhone XS is slightly bigger than the one on the X. That would be the only physical difference between the two. Would that difference be enough to make the case incompatible with the original X?

I will re-word my theory / question that got deleted in the least 'speculative' way.

Historically, does Apple usually stop making official cases for models of iPhones that have been discontinued after such a short period of time (such as the example with the iPhone X)? Does anyone know why the iPhone X cases were pulled so quickly?

That is because the iPhone 7 has not been discontinued (as of writing this message). It still comes up on the official iPhone site and is still available for purchase directly from Apple (unlike the iPhone X).
