Help! I am trying to change the file name of photos I am downloading from my Canon camera with Image Capture. I like the numbers to start at 1 and go up to as many photos I have.

You could use an Automator workflow.
Get selected finder items (This being where you have selected the image files you want to rename)
Rename finder items (Use make sequential. Check new name button, but leave field blank)
Screen grab of the workflow todownload here;

You could use any number of variations on the theme. (Get folder contents or copy finder items, which would leave your original files untouched).
Suggest you have a play to find out what suits your needs best.

Thanks for the tips. When I set the camera to sequential it still has 8 digits ( MG0001). At the photo lab the numbers get cut sometimes and only the first 4 show up, which is useless and doesn't give you the file numbers. But with your help I was able to figure out how to automate the renameing of the files. Thanks very much. This will come in so handy with my thousands of client images.
