I just left the Apple store the Genius Bar expert says yes! It’s an e sim and it will be installed with a ios patch coming early October. only a few large carriers will be Included for now, the rest to follow. Hopefully this is accrate.

Even if that's true, which I still question, what value in terms of usability for an iPhone are you expecting compared to the nano sim in iPhone X.
