I had some iTunes content on an older laptop and now I can’t get to those songs?
It was like when I connected to the cloud I lost it !

See Move your iTunes library to a new computer. Unless you have a subscription to iTunes Match or Apple Music you would need to make your own arrangements to copy non-store media from one computer to another, and even those services only help with music, and can potentially replace one version of a song with another.
