Seems likes you've managed to install some adware. You can get rid of it with Malwarebytes:
Settings changed of their own accord.Displays changed. Unable to add comments on Facebook, just does not seem to be behaving as it did.
When I go on Safari the page quickly changes to Search.searchpulse.net I went to a World Equestrian Games site and it just locked up. I had an Apple support phone number which I think was not genuine, he wanted me to let him enter my screen and when I declined he became very insistent I did. I just hung up and used Force Quit to get rid. I had the computer shut down for a while and it worked when I put it back on but I still have this search pulse.net and have tried to uninstall without any luck.
Thank you so much for the advice,I went to Malwarebytes and it was easy to install. They found 3 bad things, eliminated them and now all is as normal.I have a 30 day free trial. Do you subscribe to it all the time ?

Why do you think it has been hacked?
You need to give more detail. What setting changed? What displays changed and how? Can you add comments on other websites?
No I don't. I'm very cautious about what lands on my machine.
