I have a 1st generation Apple Watch and have had increasing problems removing the Apple bands (no 3rd party ones). I bought a new Apple Watch and wanted to swap bands with the one that came with the watch. I searched the forum and found a reply that said they took the watch to the Genius Bar and they put a solution in the ends and moved it around and then it released. They suggested that the grooves had become dirty. So, I went to the kitchen sink and ran warm water over where the band connected to the watch (vertically held) and periodically wiggled the band in the groove. After a minute, it came out!! The other side went equally well. I don't know if it will work for you, try at your own risk. Hope this helps. I was shocked (but highly gratified) that it worked.
