MacBook Pro 2018 sleep issue with eGPU
I use MacBook Pro 2018 (i9 version) with eGPU enclosure Razer Core X with AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition Air and 27" monitor AOC Q2775PQU connected to eGPU. This enclosure able to power MacBook over Thunderbolt 3 cable.
Usually when I open lid I see Apple logo and user selection and password prompt after booting. Not just wake up, as with own power adaptor. I've tried different schema to put MacBook to sleep. So closing lid with turned on external monitor not switch computer to sleep mode. I've tried press "sleep" in Apple menu without turning off external monitor but it's guaranteed that computer will be fully power of during sleep.
So partially working schema is to turn off monitor attached to eGPU, close lid and wait. MacBook switch to sleep mode and after time I se turning on eGPU card (lights on on GPU, even if I disable Nap in settings). Seems like MacBook made some actions and start to consume power for this which switch on video card. Maybe here something goes wrong and in result machine turning off fully instead of switch back to sleep mode. eGPU can be switched on many times while lid is still closed. When i open lid – I see Apple logo, so MacBook loading from the ground not just wake up. Not all times but pretty often. Especially if I turn external monitor on before open lid and unblock MacBook.
First time I've saw notification like "Your MacBook was powered off because of system issue" or something like this, but suddenly I press ignore and now don't know how to check issue details again…
So I not sure if there is some strict sequence to switch MacBook in sleep mode which plugged in eGPU or it's something wrong with system or eGPU enclosure. I've already notified Razer support so they started investigation on his side. But they asked me to contact Apple support too, so they can check his drivers too. Should I send it other way or this community message is enough and Apple will check it?
