It’s not showing the watchOS 5 update in my Apple Watch app.

looks like I hadn’t uninstalled the beta profile from the watch, did so and now downloading the update.

If you installed an iOS or watchOS beta or developer seed

1. Before you update, remove the beta profile from your device. To view and remove profiles:
   • Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone, tap the My Watch tab, then go to General > Profiles. Tap the beta profile that you want to remove, then tap Delete Profile. Enter your iPhone passcode if requested.
   • Open the Settings app on your iPhone, then tap General > Profiles & Device Management. Tap the beta profile that you want to remove, then tap Delete profile. Enter your iPhone passcode if requested.
2. After you remove the profiles, restart both devices and check for the update again.

Well I learned that since I have a 1st Gen Apple Watch my updates are over! I spent more than $800 on this watch just a few years ago and now it will no longer be supported! Not a happy camper.

Are you sure her watch is an Apple Watch S0 and not a S1?

The ones that are compatible with watchOS 5 are:

Apple Watch S1

Apple Watch S2

Apple Watch S3

Apple Watch S4

It depends on which Watch you have. Watch OS 5 is not compatible with first generation Apple Watch.

Keep in mind - 1st gen is not Series 1.

The very first Apple Watch did not have a Series number. Series 1 would be the "second" gen.

The very first Apple Watch won't get watchOS 5.

the original AppleWatch (aka series 0) does NOT recive the WatchOS 5.

this should not concern you if you are using an AppleWatch series1 or higher.

Actually your Mom's watch must be a Series 1, and not what they called 1st Gen. The 1st Gen watches as you can see in other replies in this thread do not get the upgrade. I probably purchased mine months before your Mom did, and you're right....they are far to expensive to be left out of upgrades this soon!!

Neither am I. My first generation Watch isn't even 3 years old and it is no longer supported!

The update is done from your iPhone.

First, Update your iPhone to the latest version of iOS.

Then Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

I’ve been trying to update for a day now. I was on the IOS Beta program and on watchOS 4.3.2, if I try to update IOS from my phone it says up to date (version 12.0 16a366). Watchos says also up to date v4.3.2 (15u5069a). I removed the beta profile from the phone and rebooted, watch has been restarted. It’s a series 2 watch and iPhone 7 Plus, both supported hardware. Anyone in the same boat?

Not true. My moms watch is a first gen and her’s updated the day the update launched. These watches aren’t that old and are too expensive to be denying them updates already.
