Trying to get Animoji, what is wrong with my phone?!

I have the new iOS 12 and I have an iPhone 8. When I go to the App Store and attempt to download the Animojii app it tells me that “This app requires specific features not available on this device”. What’s the deal?

You have to have an iPhone X or higher.

iPhone 8 does not have animoji and never will.

It does not have the face detection camera.
