ExpressVPN no longer supported by Safari

I've been using ExpressVPN for a long time. High Sierra version 10.13.6. Suddenly today, when I opened ExpressVPN, Safari said

“ExpressVPN” is no longer supported. You can find newer extensions reviewed by Apple in the App Store or Safari Extensions Gallery

Does that mean I shouldn't use it any more? It's the top recommended VPN app.

One message said Safari no longer supports "unsafe apps"

Not sure what to do now--- what's your VPN recommendation? I need to use one.

If you are referring to the browser extension on Safari, we are aware of this issue and our engineers are already working on a fix to update the browser extension. There is no ETA yet on when it will be available, but rest assured that this issue will be fixed with an update soon. In the meantime, you may want to use Firefox or Chrome browser extensions.

I chatted with ExpressVPN. They told me that as long as I have the app downloaded and my laptop and running, I am protected (encryption, private VPN etc.)
