Can not switch to 2g from 3g on ios 12 iphone 7 Plus

I updated my iPhone 7 Plus to ios 12, and i can not switch to 2g cellular mode, my device always on 3g, it drains my battery. How can I switch to 2g? Thank you!

Also you can use swith menu 2g,3g,LTE if you have old sim-card. Now in Ukraine i'm use newest 4g sim and i havent this menu. If i put old sim card menu is on and i can do choice 2g,3g,LTE. On old sim card you can't use LTE mode. On ios 11 i have this menu with my newest sim card.

Because when you did that, you wiped out the carrier update that was applied which enforces the limited choice. Sooner or later, the carrier update will be re-applied. If you reject the carrier update, your cellular service may be interrupted or may not work correctly.

And yes, Apple do this with carrier settings file but mostly without any knowledge of carriers

So we need to wait for Apple to fix this or to buy some Androids. (or stay away from iOS 12)

No, I am not wrong.

Apple does not remove the option from the phone. Your carrier does that with an updated carrier file. It doesn't matter how many times people try to blame this on Apple, it's not going to alter reality one bit. The carrier removed the option, not Apple.

Go complain to them if it makes you unhappy.

This issue has to be fixed by Apple only. Apple team may automated network selection choice based on SIM Card configurations. Network type selection should be left to end users only in India. Right now, I am forced to use my primary SIM card in my Samsung Galaxy S7 which support 2G network only mode. Sorry to say but my most expensive iPhone has became secondary phone with my alternate number from Reliance Jio SIM Card. We have to understand that none of the telecom service provider in India is meeting the customer expectations in 3G or 4G networks and therefore we have no choice but to change network mode to 2G Only network in India for better calling experience. Calls used get dropped frequently in 3G and 4G networks. Indian subscribers will be more than happy if apple provides options to select the network modes like 2G Only, 3G Only, 3G/2G (Auto connect), LTE/3G/2G (Auto Connect). In general, 2G Only network works well in India. Most of the users in India are using primary sim card number in 2G only network mode and secondary SIM card from Reliance Jio for data. That's dual SIM phone are very popular and successful in India. Indian users are looking forward to Apple team for providing us with an option to select 2G Only network mode.

Sorry. You're wrong. Your carrier determines what choices will be available based on the carrier file that they create and that is pushed by them to your device.

You're wasting your energy complaining about it here.
