Cisco VPN Client with Sprint Aircard (PCS)

We are trying to use the Cisco VPN Client V4.9 with our Apple Powerbooks and a Sprint Aircard (Model 580). If I launch the VPN Client while connected to the Internet using the Aircard, the Cisco Client gives the following error:

Error 51: Unable to communicate the VPN subsystem. Please make sure that you have at least one network interface that is currently active and has an IP address and start this application again.

What is happening is the Cisco VPN Client does not recognize the AirCard's connection as a valid network interface, even though it is working and recognized by the Mac OS.

The Cisco VPN client works correctly using the built-in Ethernet and the built-in Wireless (802.11x stuff).

Note: The Sprint Aircard is a wireless PCS data card, it is not an Airport or similar card that uses the 802.11x technology.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am having the same problem with a Verizon card. It is very frustrating.

When connecting via ethernet or airport, I have not problems with Cisco 4.9 but when I use the Verizon PC card for broadband access, I get the dreaded error 51. Apparently it does not see the network connection I have as a network connection. The web, mail, etc. work fine but VPN is a no. Someone mentioned thrashing an alias, which I am not sure how to do.

I can even connect to VPN using my bluetooth phone at dial up speeds without problems. Any help would be appreciated.
