Water Damage iPhone X within 2 weeks

I cant believe that iPhone X is not Durable like its older iPhones.

My Situation: I had accidentally had my iphone X in my hand for a second in pool. I know that was my mistake but accidents does happen and that too as apple had claimed iphone X can withstand 1 feet of water which did not prove true to my case.

I just got this device just 2 weeks back had been damaged by water now. I went to apple store where i was adviced to pay $549 to get replacement.

In Dilemma, if i switch from apple to Android now.
