How to open camera on iPhone (not on lock screen)

I know how to open the camera on the iPhone from the lock screen. But I'm not sure the best way to open the camera if I've already passed the lock screen. So say I'm looking at an app. The way I open the camera is to swipe down from the upper right, which brings up a number of controls (Airplane mode, etc.) and then select the camera from that screen. Is that the quickest way to open the camera?

Thanks.

Hello omccreary,

I see that you have a question about accessing the camera on your iPhone. Id' be happy to help out with this.

Yes, if you've already passed the lock screen and you're on your Home screen or within an app, then accessing the Control Center to get to the camera would be the quickest way. You can also customize the Control Center to be able to quickly access some of the things that you use the most.

Use and customize Control Center on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Thanks. Both your suggestions are helpful.

One problem, I realized, is that the Camera icon did not appear on my home screen, I'm not sure why. Actually I didn't realize that there was such an icon, other than on the lock screen and the control panel. After searching, I found it on my 6th screen and moved it to my home screen.

I was also not aware that Siri could open the camera.

Very helpful. Thanks.
