How do I approve my phone on another device signed into iCloud?

It just keeps waiting for approval...FROM WHERE? Where do I go to approve it?

I tried to sign into iCloud on my pc as I do not have a mac. I tried to sign in on my son's iPad.

There was nowhere to hit approve.

iPhone X, iOS 12

I updated my iphone and I get this message also. I go to my ipad, and there is no request to approve the iphone. I get verification codes when I try to sign in from my iphone, because I had to turn on two-factor authentication, but its as if my iphone is waiting for an approval from my ipad, which is not giving me a notuor way to approve my iphone. This *****!

This is infuriating!!! Im in the same limbo land.

For the moderators:

my specific problem is this:

on my iPhone X, Settings shows my Apple ID settings need updating

when I click continue and enter my credentials, I get stuck in a screen asking me to access icloud from another device to approve this phone.

I don't have another Apple device, so log into icloud and apple id on my PC

but WHERE can I approve the phone from?

when I click on devices there is no approve option, although the phone is shown in my devices list

Please help or patch!

AYFKM, Apple? The best answer you can give us here bears on "If you enter your iCloud Security Code incorrectly too many times?" How about *ZERO* TIMES? There was no prompt, no code, not ANYTHING that popped up after I dutifully went to open my other device and logged in to iCloud. And this was all supposedly set up and DONE, 24 hours ago when I reluctantly signed up for 2FA.

If this isn't absurd enough in itself, during the process of navigating to get Chat-help via iCloud, I had to 2FA-identify myself on my PC -- using a code that Apple sent TO MY LOCKED-DOWN iPhone. So Apple decides not to trust my iPhone until I can 2FA my way back into it - and then sends a code to that same phone to get me into iCloud...excellent security.

So now...my phone is in security-limbo, and when I try to back out, my only option is to "reset encrypted data," which offers the FAR less than comforting explanation that this will"...reset your end-to-end encrypted data to finish setting up iCloud." What the **** does THAT mean? Considering that it was Apple's in-house video that convinced me there was little downside to signing up for 2FA to begin with, 'resetting my encrypted data' sounds like jumping off a cliff.

30 minutes of Chat-delays, and they've got me going back to my 2FA-advisory email and following a link to turn it OFF.

2FA is apparently NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME. I'd never have signed up for it other than that it's required so as to back up my text messages to iCloud. AAAUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH! Stop wasting our lives with these ill-tested security solutions!

Method to sign in with same apple id and password in Mac and iOS ,

A message will appear in iOS your Apple ID is being used to sign in to a Mac book near …location . Two options will be shown allow , do not allow so click on allow .

An apple verification code will appear on iOS , enter this verification code on your Mac book , click on continue .

In your Mac it will prompt to enter admin password , so enter it and click on ok , the circle will rotate in Apple ID field , wait for a while a window will appear the boxes for use iCloud for your documents and data and use find my Mac boxes are checked by default so click on next and click on allow .

Both iOS and Mac are signed in with same Apple ID and password , the approval is completed .

You have clicked on reset iCloud keychain in Mac , this will delete all passwords from safari see this article https://support.apple.com/en-in/guide/mac-help/change-icloud-feature-settings-mh80b67854f2/10.14/mac/10.14

Change iCloud Keychain options

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
  2. If there’s an Options button next to Keychain, click it to change:
  3. If there isn’t an Options button next to Keychain, your Apple ID is set up for two-factor authentication. In this case, when you set up iCloud on a new device, you allow the device to use your iCloud data simply by entering the login password or passcode of your Mac or iOS device that already has iCloud set up.
    • Whether your iCloud Security Code can be used to approve iCloud Keychain on new devices
    • The iCloud Security Code and the phone number used to verify your identity after you use the iCloud Security Code
  1. If “Waiting for approval” appears below Keychain, click Options to enter your iCloud Security Code instead of approving this Mac from another device. If you forgot your code, you can reset iCloud Keychain.

What a pain in the butt, circling around and around trying to approve a device which shows up on two other devices. Apples products are slipping. Always considered Apple products to be hassle free, NO MORE SO!

Do you want to clarify what you mean by trying to approve a device that "shows up on two other devices"? If that is the case, then why can to tap on the Approve on one of the other two devices?

We need a clearer understanding of your specific situation which may or may not be related to the OP's.

Are you signed into more than one place using the same iCloud account?

If so, what, exactly happens when you try to sign in on the "third" device?

The Approval option comes up on the device where you are signed in. Where are you signing into iCloud on your PC? Via iCloud.com, or via the iCloud for Windows app?

Try signing into iCloud.com. Then go back to your device, and go through the steps you have followed above to see if you get an "Allow" pop-up on the iCloud.com site on your PC.

I tried to do an update on my iphone 7 after having to reset my phone because my phone was disabled. After resetting my phone, it is saying I have updates in settings. When I try to do the update it asks me to enter my appleid, which in turn asks me to unlock the iphone with an old passcode and that didn't work. It is now asking me to approve the iphone on another device which is not working because my old passcode for the iphone is NOT working.

How do I approve my phone on another device signed into iCloud?
