The iPhoneS MAPS is outdated
Is it possible to update the " MAPS " app that came with the phone ?
Only if you can update your IOS.

You are welcome. It is recommended that you update the IOS every time a new version is released. You can also update using iTunes if you want. The download takes awhile.
Thank you Eric, it's downloading as we speak. How often should I do this ? I am new to the iPhoneS, this used to be my son's iPhone, but gave it to me since he bought a new one. It's taking a while to unload
