Hi, when I ask siri to make a phone call using my HomePod I am told to take the call on my iPhone not on my HomePod, is this the way it should work? Seems odd t me!

Making progress, I can now ask Siri to make a call using HomePod and carry out a normal conversation using the speaker, however when I receive a call it just goes straight to my iPhone not the HomePod.

How did you fix this? I have the exact issue and nobody can fix it. Even Apple support. I’m really frustrated. It keeps telling me to unlock my iPhone and continue on my iPhone. I’d like to make phone call without having to unlock my iPhone.
You need to update to iOS 12 on your HomePod.
Hi, I am running ios12 on the HomePod and iPhone! Siri places the call on the HomePod okay but then tells me to unlock my iPhone to take the call.
Haven't received a call yet, you might want to check your security settings.
Hi, try rebooting your HomePod and iPhone and make sure the HomePod is running iOS 12. Making calls using HomePod is working fine for me however answering incoming calls is not so good !!
When I make a call on my HomePod I have to take the call on my iPhone
