After 12 update, iTunes doesn't recognize iPod

10.13.6

iPod To

iTunes--latest version.

Tried a new USB cable, restarted computer, but iTunes does not see my iPod.

Suggestions--thanks.

IMAC (RETINA 5K, 27-INCH, LATE 2015), macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

My computer prompted me for an update to be able to connect to the iOS 12 device, as it was tethered while updating.

Not sure how to invoke that again if you missed it or chose Not Now.

Yes. I later plugged in my iPad to see whether it would be recognized, and then I got the message about needing an update for IOS 12. After that iPod was also recognized.
