Apple Earbuds Stopped Working In One Ear (Lighting Connector)

Today I was walking home listening to music, and suddenly the music starts flickering in the left ear bud. The music stops and starts repeatedly. I unplugged my headphones and restarted the music app and then there was no sound from the left earbud at all. I tested them in another device and they still don't work so I amuse the connection is fine.

Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix it?
