How can I make a ( .com ) key

How can I make a custom keyboard shortcut? I want to make a ( .com ) key. In the old days of IS9 I could customize F keys. Now, not so much or maybe I have not figured it out. This is the most used combination of 4 keystrokes that I do all day every day. I wish I could use something like /F7 or just F7 and boom it types .com

What about using text replacement in System Preferences : Keyboard panel : Text?

User uploaded file

Then when you want to type site.com, you enter site\c followed by the spacebar, and .com is added automatically. This requires Edit menu : Substitutions : Text Replacement to be selected, otherwise nothing happens.
