The Animoji monkey doesn’t appear

The Animoji monkey icon doesn’t appear when I open my messages. I have an iPhone 6s Plus. Is there an app I’m supposed get, I thought it would appear with the latest update.

I can’t find the AniMoji/ MeMoji icon I’ve just updated to the new IOS 12, which includes the MeMoji for more than just iPhone X and newer. However, I do not see the icon when I am messaging someone in the bar. Even if I press more, it doesn’t show the monkey symbol for AniMoji. Please help, as I’d like to experience the Animoji/ MeMoji.

It requires an iPhone X or newer.
