Cant' change permissions on an external drive

Permissions for the drive are set, however it will not apply the permissions to enclosed items. When I try to click "ignore ownership on this volume" I receive "An unexpected error occurred (error code -60002)"

Any ideas how to access this data? It is part of a stack of hard drives moved from my previous Mac system to a new one.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Don't have Permission to Write to my Own External Hard Drives So this is a fun one... c8 I hadn't plugged in any of my external drives for a while... and when I did last night, I found that I no longer had permission to write to any of the hard drives I owned. (I tried four of them with no avail.) Within the permissions tab, I am listed as the owner, who can read and write to them. "Ignore Ownership on this Volume" is selected If I try and let "everyone" read and write, it says I do not have permission to do that All drives are formatted to Mac OS Journaled Dragging and dropping any object to any of these external drives results in an ex'd out arrow pointer I have run First Aid on all drives in Disc Utility, and my Macintosh HD and they all appear fine and fully functional I have tried plugging the drives directly to the Mac Mini disregarding USB hubs, and it still does not work I have re-installed Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1 and it still does not allow me to change the device permissions If I restart the computer, the drives show up properly for a few seconds (showing available space), but Finder finishes loading, and my permissions are once again removed. The helpful "Repair Disc Permissions" in Disk Utility appears to be gone. Any idea how to get this back? Thanks so much!

macOS Monterey – The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have the necessary permission. Issue: Cannot add to/delete files on external jump drives I recently purchased an iMac M1 running macOS 10.6 Monterey, restoring my files with Time Machine. At first my external jump drives worked as expected, allowing me to add to/delete files without issue; e.g. Music library, TV library, etc. Unfortunately and without explanation, all external jump drives are now "read-only." I can still 'use' these jump drives as-is but cannot add to/delete files and none of the online troubleshooting found have worked. NOTE: Does Monterey NOT allow users to "Ignore ownership on this volume" anymore? Suggestions, ideas and options are much appreciated.

Permissions on external HD / not writable Hello, I have a Seagate external 4TB hard drive about a year old, APFS formatted as a single volume and I'm running a 20178 27" Retina 5K 3.5 GHz i5 processor 24GB RAM iMac and High Sierra 10.13.6I use this as storage for photography and almost exclusively either copy files to it or access it with Lightroom. Lately Lightroom has been saying it can't open the catalog because it doesn't have permission to write to the disk, but:• Disk info says my account has permission to Read/Write to the drive.• First Aid says the disk is ok but gives a few warnings about object Unable to mark physical extent range allocated for space verification. Googling that sounded like it might be an issue, but not immediately major and not causing my write issues.• Disk Utility, in the Info screen screen for the drive, says the disk is not writeable.• I have been able to fix this in the past, I don't recall exactly how, I thought it might have been by repairing permissions, but I see that's not an option in either Disk Utility or Onyx which I also use, although rarely since I upgraded to High Sierra.• The other strange thing about the disk is that it will not auto mount on reboot, I have to mount it through Disk Utility - that has been happening since day 1 and I assumed a High Sierra glitch, drive size issue, or APFS formatting quirk.**ok, this is weird - I just went to get disk info and where my account name should be coming up it says "Fetching..."Any thoughts? Thanks!
