Can anyone recommend a DVD burner app that can be used on a regular DVD player

Recently upgraded the iMovie,Apple Support told me I HAVE to buy a DVD burner app. iMovie's no longer do it for you.

The one that was recommended is HORRIBLE! miDVDpro. Doesn't work on a home DVD player, And, I have to hit player or enter twice to start the video. I was on the phone yesterday with support all day. That didn't work.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012), iOS 11.3, iMovie

Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac? How do I get it and how do I install it?

To burn a DVD with iDVD from the latest version of iMovie, you have to export the movie using the Export button and select 480p as the size. Open iDVD and start a new project, then drag that exported movie file into the iDVD menu window, avoiding any drop zones you see.

If you are using iDVD with El Capitan or Sierra see this thread:

I have not used anything but iDVD to burn DVDs. I have heard that DVD Maker Lite-DVD Creator is pretty good. It can make DVD slideshows with photos and also makes videos. It does not have animated themes and is not as sophisticated as iDVD. Roxio Toast is another popular DVD app. There are DVD apps on the online app store, some with free trials, that you can experiment with.

I still use iDVD, though it is quirky with High Sierra.
