Turn off two step verification

How do I turn off two-step verification?

1. Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
2. In the Security section, Click Edit.
3. Click Turn Off two-step verification.
4. Create new security questions and verify your date of birth.

You'll get an email confirming that two-step verification for your Apple ID is off.

Yes, well that wasn't the question the OP asked. They asked how to turn off Two-Step Verification, and the link that turingtest2 provided explained how to do that (i.e., by switching to Two-Factor Authentication). You can no longer turn off Two-Factor. It is the standard security set-up for Apple ID's now. If you have it, you cannot turn it off.

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, however, you can unenroll for a period of two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require a higher level of security.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem or a suggestion for change. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem/suggested change solved sooner.

I wish to unlock my MacBook with my watch. unfortunately I cannot because I cannot turn off the two step verification setting. Make it possible for iwatch to unlock MacBook with 2 step verification active.

Help with what? In a new post please describe what your problem is and whether you are using a device or a computer.

Except that I'm staring at the edit security right no and it DOES NOT allow you to turn off two-factor authentication.
